Draft: to be checked and completed before Christina Olivia takes payments. Bracketed details are filled in then.
This explains what information Christina Olivia keeps, why, who else handles it, and how you control it. Christina Olivia (South Africa) is responsible for your information. Questions or requests: hello@christinaolivia.wedding.
This Website
Visiting this website (www.christinaolivia.wedding) keeps nothing about you. There are no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts, and the fonts are served by the site itself. The only record of your visit is the short-lived technical log kept by the host that serves the pages. To show a launch price while one is on, your browser asks Christina Olivia’s own server (run by Render, below) for the current discount; that request carries nothing about you, and the server keeps only its own short-lived technical records of it.
What The App Keeps
- Your account: your name, email address and password. The password is stored only in a scrambled form that can’t be turned back into it.
- From when you signed up: your country, as your browser suggests it (it sets the price you’re shown and how the app writes dates), any launch discount on offer that day, and which version of these terms and this policy you agreed to, and when.
- Password reset links: when you ask to reset your password, we email you a link that works once and ends after an hour. We keep only a scrambled form of it, and the email goes through Resend (below).
- Your wedding: everything you plan in it: dates and venues, budget and payments, vendors, checklist, notes and decisions, attire, events, seating, meals for the two of you and your vendors, songs, invitations, the honeymoon, your Inspo Board and the contact numbers you add for the day, and who in the couple added or last changed each thing.
- Your guests’ details, as you enter them: names, contact details, replies, meal choices and dietary notes, plus-ones, whether a guest is a child, and your notes about them.
- Photos you upload, kept in private storage that only your wedding’s pages can show.
- Your vows, which only you can read, not even your partner.
- Feedback you send us: your message, any screenshot you add, the page you were on, and your kind of device and browser, with your name, email address and wedding so we can follow up. If you later delete your account, we keep the message and screenshot to help improve Christina Olivia, but no longer know who sent them.
- A copy on your phone or computer: so the pages you’ve opened still work with no signal (at the venue, say), your browser keeps a copy of them and of your wedding’s information shown on them, on your own device only. Logging out deletes it.
- Payment status: whether your wedding has a plan. Your card details go to our payment provider, never to us.
- Visit counts: which pages of the app are visited, the site a visitor came from, their country and the kind of browser and device, without cookies or internet addresses, so we can see how Christina Olivia is used.
- Technical records: the services that host Christina Olivia may keep short-lived records of requests, such as an internet address and time, to keep it secure.
What We Don’t Do
We don’t sell your information, show advertising, track you across other sites, or share your wedding with vendors or anyone else. Our visit counts can’t identify you and don’t include anything in your wedding.
Why We Keep It
- To provide the service you signed up for: this is the main reason, and the legal basis is our agreement with you.
- To understand which pages are used, so we can improve them, which is in our legitimate interest; the counts can’t identify you.
- To keep accounts and the service secure and prevent misuse, which is in our and our users’ legitimate interest.
- To meet legal duties, such as keeping payment records for tax (our payment provider keeps most of these).
Your Guests
When you add guests, you decide what goes in, and we keep it only to help you plan your wedding. Some details, like dietary or accessibility notes, can say something about a person’s health or beliefs, so please only add what you need and what your guests are happy for you to share. If a guest asks us about their details, we’ll pass the request to you, or help you answer it.
Who Can See Your Wedding
You and, if you’ve invited them, your partner. You both see everything except each other’s vows, and the details of a honeymoon one of you is keeping as a surprise.
Who Else Handles It
- Vercel serves this website and the app, and counts the app’s visits (Vercel Web Analytics), in the United States.
- Neon stores the app’s database and uploaded photos, in the United States.
- Render runs the app’s server, in the United States.
- [Payment provider] takes payments as the seller of record and handles your card details under its own privacy policy. (To be confirmed before launch.)
- Resend sends the app’s emails, such as password reset links, and receives what you write to hello@christinaolivia.wedding, in the United States. Our emails carry no tracking: nothing tells us whether you opened one or which link you followed.
A picture you pin on your Inspo Board by pasting a link loads from the website it’s on, which sees your visit as if you’d opened the picture there yourself.
Each service above may only use your information to provide its service to us. Where information goes from the EU or UK to another country, such as the United States, we rely on the safeguards the law requires, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How Long We Keep It
For as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your information is deleted from the live service straight away, along with the wedding and its photos if you were the last person planning it; copies in backups expire within 30 days. The one exception is feedback you sent us, which we keep without your name, email address or wedding. A paused wedding (one whose trial or plan has ended) is kept until you delete it.
Your Choices And Rights
- See and take a copy: download your information from Downloads & Printing (printed packs and spreadsheets) or a page’s own Download button, your invitations and vows as PDFs, or ask us for everything we hold about you.
- Correct it: change anything in the app, or ask us.
- Delete it: delete your account in the app at any time.
- Object or ask us to limit how we use it, by writing to us.
- Complain to your data protection authority if you think we’ve got something wrong; we’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Keeping It Safe
Passwords are scrambled, wrong passwords and codes are limited, a sign-in ends after 14 days without use, photos are private with links that expire, vows are readable only by their writer, and information travels over encrypted connections.
Children
Christina Olivia is for adults planning their wedding; accounts are for people aged 18 and over. Children may appear on a guest list, entered by the couple.
Changes
If we change how we use your information, we’ll update this page and, if it matters, tell you before it takes effect.
